Liberty Firearms Training in Catonsville offers private Maryland Wear & Carry and HQL courses, practice sessions, and security guard training for individuals and companies. For private courses, train one-on-one or with one other person, with focused instruction from Yacov Margolese, a U.S. Army combat veteran and retired federal law enforcement officer.

Private training for individuals

No crowded classroom. The course is taught to you, at your pace.
You choose the days and times. The 16-hour WCP course can be split into 2, 3 or 4 sessions.
Taught the way you learn best, whether you are new or experienced.
Train one-on-one, or with one other person.

Wear & Carry Permit (WCP) with HQL, private

$600 one person · $550 each for two

16 hours. Range, rental and ammunition included. Not included: MSP application fees and fingerprinting.

Wear & Carry Permit renewal, private

$400

8 hours, includes live-fire qualification (70% of 25 rounds). MSP application fee not included.

Private practice sessions

From $150

90-minute sessions. Packages from $427 for 3 sessions. Couples (2 people): $250 for 90 minutes. Range fee included for live fire; firearm rental and ammunition are not included.

Security guard training for individuals

Individual officers can train on their own, without a company contract. Company rates are listed below.

Security guard training for companies

Maryland-focused armed and unarmed initial and in-service training for your officers. Book officers into monthly courses or set up a custom training plan.

Unarmed Initial

$350 per officer · 12 hours

Unarmed In-Service

$250 per officer · 8 hours

Armed Initial

$650 per officer · 28 hours over 4 days

Armed In-Service

$400 per officer · 16 hours over 2 days

10% off for 10 to 15 officers, 15% off for 16 or more.
Armed courses include duty belt, holster, Glock 17/19 for training and 100 rounds per officer.

Meet your instructor

Yacov Margolese, Founder and Lead Firearms Instructor. U.S. Army combat veteran and retired federal law enforcement officer with over 20 years of firearms experience. Certified by the NRA, USCCA and the Maryland State Police.

Common questions

Do I need an HQL before taking the Wear & Carry course?No. The 16-hour Wear & Carry Permit Initial course includes the HQL training, so one course covers both. If you only need an HQL, there is a separate standalone HQL course.

What is not included in the Wear & Carry and HQL course?Maryland State Police application fees and fingerprinting. You pay those separately.
